VCU remembers Gene Hunt

We were all deeply saddened over the holiday break to learn of the passing of Gene Hunt, Ph.D., a much-beloved former professor in the School of Business and supporter of VCU and the Richmond community for more than 50 years.
Simply put, Gene was one our greatest people and greatest supporters. He epitomized the VCU spirit with his can-do attitude and unbridled enthusiasm for all that is possible. Being around Gene made you see the good in everything.
I will always have warm memories of Gene. When I arrived in Richmond and at VCU, he gave me the warmest welcome I ever received — anywhere — when he introduced me to the retired faculty.
He could be tough, in the nicest way, if he needed to help make things happen. And he made much happen. He was integral to the new branding campaign at VCU, honoring the RPI heritage of which he was so proud and ensuring loyalty to one great university that he helped to build, first as a student, then a dedicated professor and always a super alum.
Gene was incredibly positive and intensely loyal. He was a strong voice that we all will miss so much. His passion for VCU and his commitment to all that is good for VCU are his enduring legacy.
And in his honor, we will carry this on.
