Douglas Sweet,
chairman of the VCU School of Pharmacy Department of Pharmaceutics,  has been appointed to the E. Claiborne Robins Distinguished Professorship.

The late SOP alumnus E. Claiborne Robins (B.S. ’33) and his wife, Lora, endowed the professorship in 1987 to help ensure excellence in pharmacy education and innovation in pharmaceutical research.

Before joining the faculty in 2008, Sweet worked for the University of California, San Diego, Department of Medicine/

The Robins Professorship previously was held by Peter Byron, who retired Jan. 1.

Also, School of Pharmacy Dean Joseph T. DiPiro has announced that Dave Dixon, Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science, has been promoted to associate professor.
