Since 2010, iForum Rx has existed as an interactive, web-based community designed to share high-quality, practice-changing evidence with ambulatory care pharmacy specialists, residents and students. VCU School of Pharmacy assistant professor Dave Dixon serves as an integral part of this effort as an editorial board member and social media editor.

iForum’s primary goal is to have a positive influence on patient drug therapy outcomes.

The forum uses commentaries, case studies, panel discussions and polls — as well as resource listings — to impart information about recently published literature and landmark studies. Participants are invited to interact by submitting comments and taking part in discussion boards.

Now, as a result of Dixon’s recommendation to editor-in-chief Stuart T. Haines, iForum Rx is offering podcasts to complement the written commentaries.

The first podcast discussion, posted in February, featured School of Pharmacy associate professor Evan Sisson and ambulatory care/academia PGY1 resident Michael Kelly. The topic: “Potential Uses of Niacin: Flushing Out the Results of HPS2-THRIVE.”

Several additional podcasts have been posted since then, ranging in topic from “Fish Oil for Rheumatoid Arthritis” to “Home-Based Primary Care: Can We Take These Results to the Bank?” Each podcase runs about eight to 12 minutes in length.
