It's the VCU School of Pharmacy class of 2015!
It’s the VCU School of Pharmacy class of 2015!

About 30 percent of the VCU School of Pharmacy’s Pharm.D. class of 2015 will spend the next year or two in residencies, graduate studies or fellowships all across the country.

Tom Reinders, associate dean for admissions and student services, notes that nearly 1,200 pharmacy residency programs in the United States offer further training in professional practice and management activities. A resident program typically lasts one year (PGY1), although some residents sign up for two years or end up pursuing a second year of more specialized training.

As part of its commitment to improving residency match outcomes, the School of Pharmacy hosted its first Match Day celebration in March, followed by residency scramble assistance for those who did not match. The effort was helmed by Leigh Anne Gravatt in conjunction with the Office of Admissions and Student Services’ P4 assembly day.

The American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists, which annually sponsors “The Match,” reports that a total of 2,811 PGY1 residency applicants were matched this spring out of 4,358 applications nationwide.
