VCU School of Pharmacy professor Gretchen Brophy has received a Presidential Citation from the Society of Critical Care Medicine. The citation honors society members who have made extraordinary contributions of time, energy and resources to the organization.

Brophy was recognized for her accomplishments during the American College of Critical Care Medicine Convocation/SCCM Awards Presentation at SCCM’s 44th Critical Care Congress in Phoenix, Ariz., in January.

She also was elected secretary of the Neurocritical Care Society last fall and will serve as NCS’ first-ever nonphysician president in 2017-18.  NCS conferred upon her the title of fellow at its 2014 Annual Meeting in Seattle, and she took part in the society’s Annual Debates.

In addition to teaching, Brophy is a critical care pharmacist in VCU Medical Center’s Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit and serves as preceptor for VCU Health System neurocritical care rotations. To read more about her research and practice areas of expertise, click here.
