Rusty Maney named National Advisory Council chairman-elect

VCU School of Pharmacy National Advisory Council Chairwoman Janet Silvester (B.S. ’79) announced the election of her successor during the fall 2013 NAC meeting at Pfizer Consumer Healthcare in Richmond.
Alumnus Charles “Rusty” Maney (B.S. ’87), pharmacy district supervisor for the Walgreen Company, agreed to accept the nomination to serve as the group’s chairman beginning in spring 2015.

“Rusty Maney has been a longstanding member of the dean’s National Advisory Council,” said Silvester, who is vice president, accreditation services, for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
“He also has been a tireless advocate for advancing pharmacy practice in Virginia,” she said. “He actively participates in the Virginia Pharmacy Congress, where all pharmacy stakeholders gather to formulate plans and collaborate on specific actions to move Virginia pharmacists toward a direct patient-care model. The new practice model at Walgreens is a perfect example.
“We are pleased that someone of Rusty’s caliber is going to lead the dean’s National Advisory Council.”
Maney, also a longtime preceptor for the school, was selected this past year as one of VCU School of Pharmacy’s top 10 preceptors for Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences in community pharmacy management.
