As part of a Global Quest award and supported by the Langston Center for Quality, Safety and Innovation, visiting scholars Alistair Hewison, Ph.D., and Cara Bailey, Ph.D., of the University of Birmingham, UK, hosted a lecture titled, “A strategy for end of life care research, education and practice in the School of Nursing at the University of Birmingham, England.” Hewison explained the strategy that is currently being implemented in the School of Nursing at the University of Birmingham, with a new focus and goal to improve end of life care through their development of research, education and practice programs. Research within the School of Nursing at the University of Birmingham consists of three themes: child, maternal, and family health​;​ organization and delivery of services​;​ and end of life care. The School of Nursing at the University of Birmingham was awarded third place in League Tables 2016 for nurse education, a ranking for universities in the UK and has also received NMC approval, the Local HEWM approval, and has an excellent reputation for its education and research programs.
