It’s here: the NSO “How to Apply Workshop Series”!
We are super excited to announce a brand new 5-week workshop series for VCU juniors, seniors, grad students and alumni planning to apply for a Fulbright award or another postgraduate scholarship!
This series will prepare participants to tackle applications for major postgraduate scholarships, in particular the Fulbright student grant, the Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell, and Gates Cambridge Scholarships, and the Schwarzman and Knight-Hennessy Scholars programs. Led by the NSO staff, participants will explore themes and ideas central to all applications, as well as learn how to approach major application components, such as essays, letters of recommendation, and resumes.
The series will meet for 2 hours, once a week, for five weeks (see schedule below). Each session will be interactive, and participants will be expected to take an active role in discussion and writing exercises, as well as to come prepared with any assigned homework completed. The success of this series will very much depend on your attendance and active participation!
We plan to offer two parallel sessions:
- Fridays from 12-2pm (February 19 – March 19)
- Sundays from 1-3pm (February 21 – March 21)
A given session will run only provided that at least 10 people register for it. PLEASE NOTE: Our expectation is that you will commit to attending all five sessions. We understand that sometimes things come up and you may need to miss or meet with the other session in a given week, but please register with the intention of being present for the full series.
We hope you will join us for this series–we can’t wait to work with you! You can register here or email Dr. Sisson with any questions.
