The Global Education Office is pleased to announce the following awards and scholarship opportunities available to students:

VCU Education Abroad Incentive Awards

The VCU Education Abroad office is offering three easy ways to receive a $500 award to be used for studying abroad:

1) Be one of the first 20 to enroll in VCU programs at one of the following locations:

  • American College of Greece in Athens, Greece
  • Sant’Anna Institute in Sorrento, Italy
  • Fudan University in Shanghai, China
  • University of Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico
  • University of Cordoba in Cordoba, Spain
2) Be one of the first 20 to enroll in the International Consulting Program through the School of Business:
  • University of Cordoba in Cordoba, Spain
  • American College of Greece in Athens, Greece
  • Anglo-American University in Prague, Czech Republic
  • The University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (FHWS) in Würzburg/Schweinfurt, Germany

3) Be one of the first 10 to enroll in any short term program (winter break, spring break, or summer) administered by the Global Education Office.


Randi Buerlein Scholarship

The Randi Buerlein Service-Learning Scholarship at Virginia Commonwealth University was established in 2013 upon the retirement of Ms. Randi Buerlein in honor of her commitment to international service-learning. Ms. Buerlein directed education abroad programs to the Dominican Republic and Ghana during her tenure as a faculty member in the School of Social Work.  This scholarship is designed to support VCU students who intend to participate in service-learning projects abroad.

Eligible students will meet the following criteria:

• Have at least a 2.75 GPA (cumulative)
• Participate in a service-learning program abroad

Presidential International Education Award

The Presidential International Education Award was established in 1988 to increase opportunities for undergraduate students at VCU to internationalize their education.  This award is open to undergraduates in any major with a commitment to international education.
Eligible students will meet the following criteria:

• Have at least a 2.5 GPA (cumulative)
• Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate
• Participate in an approved program abroad
• Register the academic program with VCU Education Abroad prior to departure
