Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) is thrilled to announce that it will be offering two new Undergraduate Research Travel Grants for semester and year-long participants on the Overseas Student Program (OSP) in Israel. The application for the scholarship must be submitted alongside the regular application; the deadline for fall 2014 is April 1.

The OSP offers short- and long-term programs in English in a wide variety of subject areas, including specialized tracks in Sustainable Development, Global Health, and Israel Studies. Taught at BGU’s modern campus, coursework is enhanced by Hebrew language study, internship and volunteer opportunities, as well as excursions throughout Israel. Research internships of three to twelve months, as well as intensive Hebrew language programs are also available.

Our location in Beer-Sheva, a multicultural city on the edge of the vast Negev Desert, offers an ideal place for international students to advance their studies and experience Israel. Beginning in fall 2014, we will be giving two highly qualified students from North America the opportunity to take their explorations even further by awarding travel grants of $2,500 each for travel to be undertaken directly before, after, or during their stay at BGU for a semester or academic year of study or research internship.

The grants can be used to cover travel expenses within Israel for one of the following purposes, to:

– continue or develop a research project with a faculty supervisor from the home institution,
– develop a project or research for personal or academic development,
– supplement work in the BGU research internship program with relevant travel, or
– engage in an independent study with a BGU faculty supervisor.
