Put Some Tech in Your T&L

Starting July 1st, the Kaltura video players in Canvas will be updated to use the new V7 player, replacing the current V2 version currently in use.

The Kaltura Player V7 and its KMC player design studio offer administrators a significantly upgraded experience for streaming. This new player boasts a sleek, intuitive design with faster load times and enhanced security and performance. It’s a comprehensive solution for all streaming needs, featuring a modular bundle for efficient playback and easier plugin development.
Key enhancements include:

  • Improved performance and UI/UX customization options.
  • Support for IPv6 and new plugins like Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Smartswitch, and Broadpeak.
  • Flexible embed types (Auto, Dynamic, Iframe) for both V2 and V7 players.
  • Streamlined configuration using a JSON object, configurable at startup or runtime.
  • A consolidated Player API via the Kaltura Player class.
  • Support for most V2 media formats, plus offline playback.
  • Expanded platform support, including Smart TV devices and native HTML5 video.
  • user-friendly UI with graphic enhancements that works out-of-the-box, removing the need to enable plugins for basic controls. Users can also extend or customize the UI with their own plugins and CSS.
