Keep calm and report to the IRB! Sign up for a special training session to learn all about which events must be reported to the IRB, including Unanticipated Problems (UPs) and noncompliance.

Sessions will be held virtually using Zoom, on the following dates:

Join the IRB to learn all about UPs, noncompliance, and the requirements for reporting each type of event. Ensure your compliance with reporting requirements, and understand the importance of reporting events to the IRB as part of protecting participants and promoting a culture of transparency and accountability. The session will begin with a presentation, and end with a discussion of case studies representing various scenarios.

Following this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Articulate the regulatory requirements for reporting Unanticipated Problems (UPs) and noncompliance to the IRB, including the timeline for reporting
  • Define UPs and noncompliance, and distinguish between UPs and “Adverse Events”
  • Understand other monitoring obligations besides reporting to the IRB
  • Navigate the report submission process at VCU
  • Describe what happens to reports of UPs and noncompliance after the IRB receives and reviews them
