Departments at VCU Engineering continue to rise in the rankings, with the biomedical engineering and online engineering master’s program noted as top performers in 2025 and qualifying for a badge from the publication.

With latest recognition for master’s offerings in education, engineering and business, the university now has 24 graduate programs in Top 50 lists compiled by the publication.

Jumping 30 spots to be ranked 22 by U.S. News and World Report, the online Master’s program in the College of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has demonstrated great success with working professionals.

The ongoing climb reflects faculty dedication and student-focused commitment, Provost Fotis Sotiropoulos says.

The nuclear engineering graduate program at Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) College of Engineering climbed three ranks to secure the 18th spot in the nation, according to U.S. News and World Report.

For engineers looking to cultivate their leadership skills, increase earning potential and advance their careers, a master’s in engineering management can be that next step.

The new degree will provide a multidisciplinary approach to computer science, broadening the scope of computing education across the university. 

This comes just as the department added two new master’s concentrations in engineering management and aerospace engineering, both which can be completed online.

The College of Engineering launches new master’s concentrations in aerospace engineering, engineering management, environmental and sustainable engineering, rehabilitation engineering, systems engineering, and tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

The College of Engineering launches new minors in artificial intelligence, aerospace engineering, nuclear engineering, software engineering, cybersecurity and data science.
