Office of Alumni Relations

The latest news from Virginia Commonwealth University

Amid growing concern about the spread of COVID-19 (also called novel coronavirus), VCU’s priority is the health and safety of each member of our Ram family. To that end, VCU events in New York City around the A-10 tournament are canceled. This includes:

– Thursday’s pregame reception at Barclays Center
– Thursday’s Ram Fan Fest at Ainsworth Chelsea
– Saturday’s Headshots and Happy Hour at Velvet Brooklyn

Tickets purchased to the pregame reception and the Headshots and Happy Hour event will be refunded by the VCU Office of Alumni Relations by March 20. VCU Athletics will still hold Friday’s “Today” event with Rodney the Ram if we win Thursday’s game. Please note, there is no official VCU fan headquarters for A-10 this year.

Game tickets

The tickets you purchased through the VCU Office of Alumni Relations for Thursday’s game are still good and can be picked up at the Barclays Center’s will call window one hour before the game. Please email Lauren Leavy (Cert.’19/GPA), senior coordinator of alumni engagement events, by 5 p.m. Tuesday to confirm the name your tickets should be under or to let her know if you are not coming to the game. We cannot refund your game ticket if you do not let us know you are not going to the game. VCU Alumni Relations will refund the cost of your game ticket purchased through our office by March 20.

Questions about game tickets purchased through VCU Athletics should be directed to the VCU Athletics’ ticket office.

Hotel reservations

If you reserved a room at the Marriott Marquis as part of the VCU Alumni room block, please email alumni@vcu.edu to let us know if you are still traveling to NYC or if you are planning to cancel your room reservation.

Watch parties

Catch the Rams’ A-10 action with local alumni at a watch party in your area. Follow VCU Alumni or your local chapter on Facebook for details on more parties as the Rams advance in the tournament.

Thank you for your continued loyalty and patience during this challenging time. If you have any questions, please contact Amy Gray Beck, Ph.D. (Ph.D.’19/E), executive director of alumni outreach and engagement, at (804) 586-5202 or acbeck@vcu.edu.
