The holiday season is fast approaching and it is sure to be an interesting new year ahead. Just as Fall 2020 forced everyone out of their comfort zones into what has been referred to as the “new normal”, Spring 2021 is sure to have its own challenges. Top Hat wants to help not just in the classroom in the semester ahead, but also with the holiday season. Academic Technologies and Top Hat will be co-hosting 3 upcoming Top Hat webinars where each attendee will have the opportunity to win 1 of 3 online gift cards in the amounts below:

1st Prize: $100
2nd Prize: $75
3rd Prize: $50

Academic Technologies will be hosting 3 sessions co-hosted by Top Hat and VCU faculty users on the following dates:

December 8th 2020 at 10AM – “How I Taught This”

This session will introduce faculty to Top Hat and will be led by a current VCU instructor with a Top Hat representative. This will be a great opportunity to learn how one VCU instructor uses Top Hat to deliver an engaging and impactful learning experience in an asynchronous class.

December 9th at 10AM – “Tis’ the Top Hat Season: Textbooks 101”

This session will be a content-focused webinar to see how Top Hat can help faculty adapt their course materials so that they engage students and build community while students learn. Top Hat has both free and low-cost options that can be used interchangeably in online/hybrid and in-person teaching environments.

January 13th 2021 at 10AM – “Supercharging your Hybrid, Asynchronous, or Synchronous Courses”

In this workshop, Top Hat representatives will focus on Top Hat’s tools for driving student engagement in synchronous, asynchronous and hybrid settings. Learn how to build interactive polls and quizzes using advanced question types, create media rich course materials and learn evidence-based strategies for online assessments. This session will also feature a VCU faculty member to offer tangible examples and anecdotes from using Top Hat with VCU students this Fall.
