Happy New Year and welcome back to another promising semester at VCU. We hope you enjoyed the holiday season and had some quality time with your student. We are delighted to have them back on-campus with us for the Spring Semester.

The start of a new semester is an excellent time for your student to reflect on the Fall Semester in evaluating their goals as well as your expectations. What went well during the Fall Semester? Where is there room for improvement?  What did they learn from both successes and failures? Were they engaged academically and involved in campus life? It is also a great time to point them towards on-campus resources like the Campus Learning Center, Writing Center, University Counseling Center or VCU Career Services, or visit the Get Involved page for opportunities to join a multitude of clubs, Greek Life and other organizations.

We also want to welcome our new parents and families whose students are about to join us for their first semester at Virginia Commonwealth University. We are so happy to have you and your student as part of our Ramily and look forward to the remarkable things your student will accomplish during their time at VCU. We understand the first semester in a new place can be daunting, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions at ramfamilies@vcu.edu.

This is shaping up to be a busy semester so please be sure to keep up with the Spring 2019 Academic Calendar so as not to miss any important dates or deadlines. Thank you, and best of luck to you and your student in the semester ahead.

Sincerely,

Charles Klink, Ph.D.

Senior Vice Provost for Student Affairs
