2015 was an exciting year for VCU and the Office of New Student and Family Programs!

The Office of New Student and Family Programs hosted pre-arrival and orientation events for the first time in China. The “Beyond Orientation” online parent course was offered for the second time and helped almost 200 first-year parents and family members to be stronger partners in their students’ success. The New Student Orientation program continued to be an annual success with over 6,000 students and over 3,000 parents and family members in attendance. Family Weekend attracted over 900 families to VCU and we enjoyed spending time with everyone who made the trip to Richmond!

Many big things happened at VCU this year as well. During the 2014-15 season, VCU athletics teams prevailed in their respective arenas — from basketball, to baseball, to golf, to tennis and track and field — with the VCU Rams men’s basketball team taking the A10 championship for the 2014-15 season. This basketball season, we’re looking forward to the same caliber of play under our new head coach Will Wade. Our Cabell Library expanded to serve more students and now offers new learning spaces.  U.S. News and World Report ranked the VCU Medical Center among the best hospitals in the country and the number one hospital in Virginia.  Dr. Gail Hackett joined VCU as the new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Marsha Rappley became the new Vice President of Health Sciences and CEO of the VCU Health System.  Click here for more of the top VCU news stories, research stories, videos and social media posts of the year!
