School of Social Work

No. 28 M.S.W. Program in the U.S.

IMG_0168Huy Ho, a student in the Virginia Commonwealth Univeristy M.S.W. Program, was awarded the 2015 Ashley Brooks-Danso Memorial Fund’s Travel Scholarship. This scholarship provides funding for a masters social work student with an interest in aging to attend the 2015 CSWE Annual Program Meeting. Huy will receive travel expenses as well as a complimentary registration to attend APM and its Gero-Ed Track events in Denver, Colorado from Colorado 15-18, 2015.

Huy finds exploring gerontological work exciting as it intersects with a myriad of important and contemporary social justice issues. Due to his experience serving older homeless individuals through AmeriCorps and his time spent as a case manager for those with severe and persistent mental illness, Huy is pursuing his MSW and a certificate in aging studies to improve the experience of aging on interpersonal and community levels. Huy’s particular interests include advocating for elder rights in the health care system as well as improving end-of-life issues and awareness.
