The VCU School of Social Work’s B.S.W. Program leadership will be presenting at the Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, in March.

BSW curriculum renewal: Creating programmatic shared language to further center ADEI across the curriculum.

Learning objectives:

  • Review 2022 EPAS and implications of language shifts that further center ADEI
  • Identify strategies for centering ADEI concepts across BSW curricula
  • Identify gaps in curricula development and/or instructor training based on a survey of participant institutional need and/or readiness for 2022 EPAS implementation

Workshop activities:

  • Review the shared language list adopted for use at our institution and discuss their initial reactions
  • Engage in a discussion with the presenters and other participants about establishing a baseline for teaching ADEI concepts and what key considerations are relevant for their respective institutions
  • Create an action plan auditing instructional needs for teaching ADEI content across their program
