Congratulations to this year’s recipients of the Virginia Commonwealth University Robin McKinney Dissertation Honor Fund, Megan Gandy and Lisa Gray

These scholarships will directly support the dissertation projects of the two selected students.  This award is competitively awarded yearly by the VCU School of Social Work Ph.D. Program to support the conduct of dissertation research; it was renamed in memory of Robin McKinney, a doctoral candidate who passed away unexpectedly in February 2010 and whose research sought to improve social awareness and services for African-American women impacted by intimate partner violence.

Gray’s dissertation work focuses on research designed to impact services and supports for military spouses; Gandy’s dissertation work focuses on enhancing the care and treatment for LGBTQ youth receiving behavioral health treatment.

Congrats to both Lisa and Megan, and best wishes on your continued dissertation success.
