Sonya Hung, Ph.D. retires
Dr. Hsinling Sonya Hung is retiring as of August 31, 2025.
Dr. Hung joined VCU in 2016 as assistant professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences (then the Department of Health Behavior & Policy). During her time at VCU, she has collaborated as evaluator and co-investigator on a myriad of health promotion projects, including RVA Breathes and Hydrate RPS. She also served as the as Director of Evaluation and Assessment for the Center on Health Advancement in the School of Medicine, and she was lead program evaluator for numerous training programs for pre- and post- doctoral scholars, including the Massey CPC T32 for many years.
Dr. Hung was a fixture in the SBS doctoral education program, teaching the program evaluation course and serving on numerous committees, including comprehensive exam writing and grading committees. She continuously showed great dedication to the department and a collaborative spirit, and she will be greatly missed. We wish her all the best for her retirement!
