Celebrating Our Caregivers
As we celebrate National Nurses Week, we at VCU have much to celebrate, thanks to nurses at VCU Medical Center and the faculty, staff and students of VCU School of Nursing. They help make the university a top public research university and a Magnet-designated hospital — an honor bestowed on very few hospitals. More importantly, they have committed themselves to saving the lives of countless patients, and they make a difference for so many more.
In the School of Nursing, our students are taught by diverse faculty who are among of the best in their field, from classroom to clinical and into the community. And our students graduate respected for their dedication to healing others and for improving the human condition. They are role models and will do well in their careers as healers and educators.
Today also marks the beginning of National Hospital Week. Because of VCU Medical Center’s reputation for outreach, engagement and expertise, its recognition as a one of the commonwealth’s top safety-net hospitals is well-earned. We are also among the safest hospitals in the nation and this is thanks to so many, including a dedicated team of nurses who accept nothing short of excellent care for the patients they treat.
This week and beyond, I am so grateful for the nurses at VCU Medical Center hospitals and clinics in Richmond and across the commonwealth, caregivers that are here for us and our neighbors in moments of need.
