The power of investing in students
Last week, I had the great pleasure of meeting several of our students who have earned academic scholarships, as well as some of the generous donors who have made those scholarships possible. What a remarkable experience to share the room with the visionary women and men who invest in our students, and the students who will change the world.
These events re-enforced in me my commitment to use the presidential podium to focus on fundraising for VCU, including financial aid that will help our students at every level succeed.
VCU has set itself up to attract the best students from around the world. Those students have come, and they are performing well. Our students are, increasingly, helping to raise the international profile of our premier urban public research university and helping us advance our Quest for Distinction strategic plan.
I’m so proud that more and more people have begun investing in our students and their unique VCU educational experience, not only as student scholars but as the future leaders of Virginia and our world who will achieve things we cannot imagine today. These generous and wise donors are not simply helping a student go to class, they are investing in helping a young leader learn to change the world.
I can’t imagine a better investment.
