Nelson Mandela statement
The world has lost a heroic and inspirational man in Nelson Mandela. He was a servant leader not only for his nation and his people but for human beings around the world who have hope when they possess little else.
President Mandela taught us the importance of celebrating and embracing diversity in all its forms and valuing people for what they can contribute to the human experience. These are values we work to advance in Virginia Commonwealth University. We celebrate the enormous legacy of Nelson Mandela as we reflect on our commitments to advancing diversity, to treating one another with respect and kindness and to understanding and leading our global community.
At VCU, we join the world in honoring his memory.
