The Virginia Pharmacists Association, the Commonwealth’s state affiliate for the American Pharmacists Association, invited Jean-Venable “Kelly” Goode to deliver the 35th Annual R. Reginald Rooke Lecture during VPhA’s 2016 Midyear Conference in Roanoke, about two weeks before she was inducted as APhA president. Her topic was “Building a Community of Care.”

Rooke, for whom the lecture is named, was a 1921 alumnus of MCV School of Pharmacy. Goode, a professor at the school, is also an alum, having earned her bachelor’s degree in 1989 and her Pharm.D. in 1994.

Also representing VCU School of Pharmacy at the February conference were Patty Slattum, professor and alumna (B.S. ’85, Pharm.D./Ph.D. ’92)), on “Using TeamSTEPPS Tools to Promote Collaborative Patient Care”;  and alumni Tehra James (Pharm.D. ’14) and Natalie Nguyen (Pharm.D. ’14) on “Health Apps: Only a Tap Away.”
