“Queen for a Day” was a popular mid-20th century TV game show. Thanks to VCU School of Pharmacy’s Pediatric Pharmacy Student Group, the school had its own prince and princess for a day on March 31: Jeremy Stultz and Leigh Anne Gravatt.

The two assistant professors gamely donned their most majestic finery, complete with crown and tiara. They taught class, attended meetings and walked the halls all day, occasionally bestowing a royal wave … and all for a good cause, the Richmond chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

“Jeremy is the faculty advisor for the peds group,” Gravatt said with a laugh. “I just sacrificed myself for this event.” She even princessed herself down Marshall Street on a blustery day to have photos taken with Stultz during an afternoon class in Baruch Auditorium.

Dressing the faculty members for a day – or, rather, telling them what to wear – were just two of a dozen items donated by faculty for a silent auction that raised nearly $900. 2014-15 pediatric group president Kristen Morris noted that half of the proceeds were donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and half went back into the group treasury to support members’ participation in health fairs, provide favors for pediatric parties and more.

Morris reports that “countless students from P1s to P4s” bid on items for the auction. “We had 11 professors participate, and they donated either items or their time,” she said. “We were so grateful for all of their support!”

Following are the items on which students bid, in addition to dressing Stultz and Gravatt for the day.griffin-and-the-aequora-cover-final-kindle-2500[1]
