PGY1 residency program wins ASHP Foundation Residency Excellence Award
VCU Health System’s PGY1 Pharmacy Practice program received the ASHP Foundation’s 2013 Residency Excellence Award during the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists Midyear Meeting in December.
A VCU University Public Affairs story about the award notes contributions to the program made by VCU School of Pharmacy associate professor Craig Kirkwood, a coordinator for the VCU Health Systems Residency Programs who also co-helms the Teaching and Learning Certificate portion of the PGY1 Pharmacy Practice program along with program director Denise Lowe. Also mentioned is Brigitte Sicat, a 1998 SOP Pharm.D. alumna who helped develop interprofessional education experiences for residents participating in the PGY1 program.
Half of the current group of PGY1 Pharmacy Practice residents are alumni of the school, all Pharm.D. class of 2013: Andrew Carmichael, Lauren Cherry and Amanda Kroll.
