Advancements in technology have opened up a world of possibilities for many. For students, understanding the role that assistive technology plays in their success is critical for future self-advocacy. Specialized software, apps, and devices can enhance learning experiences and provide access to the academic curriculum. From screen readers to speech recognition software, these assistive technologies can provide essential access and empower students to engage with course materials efficiently and effectively. Many assistive technology supports are available on household devices that are already in students’ possession.
