Candace Burton Receives Top Socio-behavioral Research Poster Award at Women’s Health Research Day
Candace Burton, Ph.D., R.N., assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Health Nursing, recently earned the best poster award in the socio-behavioral category at the Eighth Annual Women’s Health Research Day, a networking opportunity celebrating and promoting excellence in interdisciplinary women’s health research at VCU.
Hosted by the Virginia Commonwealth University Institute for Women’s Health, nearly 60 posters were on display by VCU faculty and students on a broad spectrum of women’s health topics in three categories. Awards were given to the top posters in three categories: clinical, basic science and socio behavioral research. Burton’s poster was entitled “Young Women’s Health Following Adolescent Dating Abuse.” The poster displayed Burton’s mixed methods study of young adult women who experienced dating abuse in adolescence. Burton is currently analyzing data and preparing manuscripts based upon it.
