VCU School of Nursing alumna Judith B. Collins, RN, WHNP-BC, FAAN (Cert.’75/N), has been named a 2017 VCU Alumni Star.  The prestigious VCU Alumni Stars awards recognize graduates throughout the worlds of art, business, education, service and health care who have attained notable achievements in their field. Collins will be recognized Friday, Nov. 3 during a ceremony at the Science Museum of Virginia.

Collins has held positions in nursing services, administration, education and professional organizations, including appointment by the governor to the Virginia Board of Nursing and the joint boards of Nursing and Medicine. She retired in 2000 after more than 30 years of service to VCU.

In retirement, Collins, a Life member of VCU Alumni, has been an active volunteer and loyal donor to the university, including serving on the MCV Foundation Board of Trustees and the VCU Institute of Women’s Health. She has also served on various community, state and national boards and foundations as well as a volunteer at CrossOver Clinic. In honor of her retirement, family, friends, grateful patients and colleagues established the Collins-Teefey Distinguished Professorship at the School of Nursing.
