Interested in studying abroad next summer? The National Scholarship Office and the Global Education Office will be holding an information session about the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) program on Wednesday, September 18, 2012 at 3 PM at West Grace North (830 W. Grace St), in room 1030J. When guests enter the building, they will go through the set of glass double doors at the right in the foyer then proceed to the end of the hall. David Mowry, Program Office for Turkey and Azerbaijan for the CLS program, will be leading this information session. For more information on CLS visit http://clscholarship.org.

The CLS program is part of the National Security Language Initiative (NSLI), a U.S. government interagency effort to expand the number of Americans studying and mastering critical need foreign languages.

CLS provides full summer (eight to ten weeks) funding for different critical languages. All CLS programs are held in countries where the language is spoken and many involve home stays in addition to intensive classroom instruction. Some programs offer only intermediate and advanced training and some are open only to graduate students and graduating seniors.

• Arabic and Persian: Advanced beginning, intermediate and advanced levels
• Azerbaijani, Bangla/Bengali, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Punjabi, Turkish and Urdu: Beginning, intermediate and advanced levels
