Collaborate Ultra is Going Away with Blackboard
Currently, Collaborate Ultra is integrated with Canvas but it is part of the Blackboard suite of tools and will no longer be available once Blackboard has been decommissioned.
As an alternative, Zoom has been established as VCU’s official desktop conferencing solution to support remote instruction and collaboration.
Zoom accounts are available to anyone with a valid “@vcu.edu” eID. If you have a VCU Zoom account, or need to create one, please login at vcu.zoom.us with your VCU credentials.
Hospital personnel with “@vcuhealth.org” credentials may acquire and access Zoom accounts at vcuhealth.zoom.us.
Additionally, every user with a VCU eID automatically has an account in Kaltura making it extremely simple to upload your zoom recordings to a course when Zoom Cloud is enabled. For more information on how to do this, visit the Kaltura to Zoom to Canvas.
Another alternative to Collaborate Ultra is Canvas’ built-in Conferences (aka BigBlueButton) tool. Conferences makes it easy to conduct synchronous (real-time) lectures for all users in a course and allows users to broadcast real-time audio and video, demo applications, share presentation slides, or demo online resources.
Please keep in mind, there are some limitations in regards to Conferences recordings. For more information, please visit the Record a Conference Knowledge Base page.
