New Requirement for NIH Funded Clinical Trial Researchers
As of January 1, 2017, all NIH funded researchers involved in the conduct, oversight,or management of clinical trials must be trained in Good Clinical Practice (GCP). NIH defines clinical trial as “a research study in which one or more humans are prospectively assigned to one or more interventions (which may include placebo or other control) to evaluate the effects of those interventions on health-related biomedical or behavioral outcomes”This applies to all new AND existing studies. This GCP requirement can be met by completing either CITI’s GCP training (for Biomedical Research) OR NIH’s GCP Training (for Social Behavioral Research).
Directions to take NIH’s GCP Blackboard Training:
In Blackboard:
1) Course Search: “NIH Social Behavioral Good Clinical Practice Training”
2) Click the dropdown arrow to Enroll
3) Click Submit
4) In the course, click Modules and proceed through each module.
