Timely information from the offices of the VCU IRB

We are so pleased to announce that Brigid Roy, CIP, has accepted the position of HRPP Assistant Director starting on July 8, 2025. Brigid is a known talent as she has been contracting with VCU HRPP for 2 years coming from Advarra. We feel so lucky to have her become part of the VCU family officially.

Brigid brings over two decades of experience in Human Research Protection to her role at VCU. She has served in a range of roles across the research compliance landscape, including IRB Manager, Research Compliance Analyst, Privacy Board Member, Research Auditor, and Reliance Program Manager.

Brigid managed the Human Research Protection Program at Children’s Hospital Oakland (CHO) for many years and guided its successful integration into the University of California, San Francisco. Most recently, as a consultant with Advarra, she has worked with a variety of institutions to build, assess, and enhance HRPP operations.

Known for her collaborative style, Brigid is committed to mentoring staff, supporting researchers, and ensuring regulatory compliance while aligning processes with institutional goals. She is excited to continue supporting the VCU research community.
