Tuition

Active Participant Tuition / $2,750
+ 1-hour private lesson with each institute faculty member (6 lessons total)
+ 2 hours of assigned practicing daily
+ Admission to daily workshop, recital, and master classes
+ Admission and selected participation to Guest Artist master class
+ Welcome reception and dinner
+ Performance at the culminating recital (recorded on DVD)
+ Transportation to, and from, the airport at arrival and departure
+ Trip to Washington D.C. on mini-bus (excluding lunch and dinner)
+ Attendance to Kennedy Center Showcase Concert
+ Career advising and college/graduate-school admission consultations
+ Campus and Richmond tours
+ Participation in English Conversation Group
+ Boutique Hotel Graduate Richmond accommodation (with breakfast) for 12 nights

Passive Participant (Observer) Tuition / $2,000
All items listed above except that instead of actively participating in lessons and performances, observing participants will attend those activities as an audience member.

Active Participant (Local) Tuition / $1,800
All items listed above except for hotel lodging and tours/transportation.


Refund Policy

Participation cancellation made more than 90 days prior to the beginning of the Institute: Full Refund, Minus Refund Processing Fee of $350

Participation cancellation made more than 45 days prior to the beginning of the Institute: Refund of 50% of the Tuition Payment

Participation cancellation made more than 30 days prior to the beginning of the Institute: Refund of 30% of the Tuition Payment

Participation cancellation made less than 30 days prior to the beginning of the Institute: Tuition Non-Refundable

All refunds will be made on the credit card used at the time of registration. Please allow at least two weeks of refund processing time.


GSIM Competitions

Participation to the GSIM Protégé Competition
Free

GSIM Protégé Competition is open only to participants of the GSIM festival. The goal of the competition is to put in spotlight a cohort of top-talent from the festival. The winners will be featured at the Kennedy Center showcase as well as receiving scholarships to attend future GSIM. The competition consists of two rounds: preliminary selected based on video submission and final round conducted on site during the festival. The participation of the competition is free, and the participants may use their audition videos for the festival admission for the preliminary of the GSIM Protégé. However, it is to the entrant’s advantage to submit his/her strongest video for the competition as the finalists will be selected only based on the video.

GSIM Participants, soloist or chamber music group

Preliminary Repertoire
TWO contrasting pieces (at least 5-10 min total)

Final Round
15 min of free program

Participation to the GSIM Concerto Competition
$100

Concerto competition is open to all instrumentalists and vocalists aged 10-35 and the winners are selected based on video submission (link provided at registration).

Participants are required to present a concerto movement from the list below or one that does not exceed the following orchestral requirements:

2 Flutes 2 Oboes2 Clarinets 2 Bassoons 2 Horns 2 Trumpets Timpani Strings
