Computer science researcher receives NSF funding to develop new approach to cybersecurity instruction for community colleges
Demand for cybersecurity professionals continues to explode nationwide. Irfan Ahmed, Ph.D., assistant professor of computer science in the VCU College of Engineering, has received a $250,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to help meet this need by teaching community college students advanced cybersecurity skills.
VCU named National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Research
The National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security have named Virginia Commonwealth University a National Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Research. The CAE program promotes higher education and research in cyber defense to reduce vulnerability in the national information infrastructure.
