20 VCU Engineering faculty among world’s most-cited researchers in 2021, according to Stanford University study
Citation metrics — how often a scholar’s published work is cited by other researchers — are widely acknowledged as important measures of research impact.
A study from Elsevier BV, based at Stanford University, finds that 20 VCU College of Engineering professors are in the world’s top 2% of most-cited researchers in 2021.
All five of VCU Engineering’s departments are represented on Stanford’s list of highest-impact researchers within their respective fields for 2021.
“VCU Engineering is fortunate to have faculty whose research impacts not only their scientific colleagues worldwide, but also the development of knowledge and technology that will be the base for future innovations. This means that our students have the opportunity to learn from leaders in their fields and, in many cases, to work directly with this incredible cadre of educators to make a difference — to make it real,” said Barbara D. Boyan, Ph.D., the Alice T. and William H. Goodwin, Jr. Dean of VCU Engineering.
