When we are continually reminded of the tragedy of hatred and the heartache that rises from racial bias, perhaps it becomes too easy to not say anything at all. Yet, many impacted gravely suffer silently without support. My hope is that we will one day learn to be a society that respects and celebrates each other’s differences. Surely, the recent weeks provide evidence that we have not.

We must find a way to end senseless tragedies like the ones that have unfolded over these past weeks. We must find a way to end the learned hatred—both displayed and silent—in America.

A sense of community and belonging are essential to healing, so I encourage everyone to use your passions to uplift one another and support those who need it most. Below are resources available to any students, faculty or staff who are struggling to cope with recent events:
