VCU Dental Care opened a new Urgent Care Clinic (UCC), on Monday, May 22, in the Perkinson building. Designed for patients in pain who want to keep their teeth, the UCC targets new patients who do not want comprehensive care, but have a particular dental issue.

This new clinic gives patients an additional access point to VCU Dental Care and simulates the environment of a private practice dental office while providing “real life” experiences to VCU School of Dentistry students.

VCU Dental Care provides services by appointment and walk-ins are welcomed. Morning and afternoon appointments are available Monday-Friday.

Pictured with me at the ribbing cutting ceremony are Ryan Brown, lead dental assistant and clinic manager; Clara Spatafore, D.D.S., M.S., chair of the endodontics department and associate professor; Monica Bridgeforth, director of predoctoral, postdoctoral and private practice clinic operations; and Donnie Parris, director of clinical business services.

It’s all about taking care of patients who don’t have dentists but are looking for dental care. It’s also a great learning opportunity for our students and our residents. The clinic will help us move forward with our educational efforts while we provide access to quality dental care.
