Dr. Tankersley Delivers Ethics Lecture
Dr. Ronald Tankersley was the speaker for our annual ethics day program supported by the Mirmelstein Lectureship fund and the generosity of the Virginia chapters of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the American College of Dentists. Dr. Tankersley spoke to the D1, D2, and dental hygiene classes in the afternoon and then presented to the dental faculty, staff, residents, and community dentists in a separate evening program. Dr. Tankersley is a 1968 DDS graduate and 1971 OMFS graduate from MCV/VCU and Past President of the American Dental Association and the Virginia Dental Association. He is a good friend and supporter of our school and VCU. In his presentation he discussed cultural, economic and neurobiological factors that affect ethical behavior and decision making. He provided compelling evidence that education and peer pressure will lead to more ethical reasoning and decision making. He concluded is presentation by showing the VCU Dental Class of 2014’s ethics video called the The Dental Saleman. The class created this video entry for the ADA Student Ethics Video competition. Thank you Dr. Tankersley! Watch or listen at the links below.
