Brought to you by NASA Langley Research Center and VCU da Vinci Center for Innovation.

On March 29, VCU da Vinci Center kicked off Innovation Month at VCU with a workshop exploring the innovative potential of NASA technologies while connecting with collaborators throughout Richmond, VA.

Participants in Ignite Innovation got to:

  • Learn about cutting-edge NASA technologies from the inventors themselves
  • Collaborate with students, faculty and staff, community members, industry experts, and researchers to explore the commercial potential of these technologies
  • Learn how to transform their ideas from this workshop into patents or start-ups based on NASA technologies

During the workshop, inventors presented an overview of their technologies and gave participants time to ask them any questions. Then, participants were tasked to work with other attendees and come up with potential commercial applications for those technologies.

Narasimha S. Prasad, Ph.D., and recipient of the NASA Innovator Award in 2023, talked with attendees about their innovative technology, the Remote, Noninvasive, Cardiac Activity Tracer (RENCAT). The RENCAT is a laser vibrometer sensor for monitoring cardiac activities remotely and non-invasively created for NASA Langley Research Center. He played a key role in helping attendees brainstorm potential commercial applications for the RENCAT.

A huge thank you to NASA Langley Research Center for collaborating with the VCU da Vinci Center for Innovation!
