DAR holiday party, Spirit Awards wrapup
The corner of Fourth and Grace came to life last Thursday night as about 100 DAR team members gathered for our annual holiday party. Appetizers, a decorated cake, beer, wine, cider, festive attire and lively conversation – some of it not work-related – warmed the cavernous room at Champion Brewing Co.
The first highlight of the night was the announcement of Spirit Award winners by Jay Davenport, DAR vice president. The following team members were honored:
- Spirit Awards: Brogan King, stewardship coordinator in Advancement Services, and Amy Lane, Ph.D., director of major gifts in the School of Medicine (absent)
- Service Awards: Ariana Bracalente, senior development writer for corporate and foundation relations, and Barbara Payton,(B.S.’83/MC), director of development for major gifts for the School of Dentistry
- Rookie of the Year: Jud Froelich, creative content coordinator for DAR Communications
- RAMS Forever Awards: Veda Bellamy, administrative and program assistant, and Regina Phinizey (B.S.’82/B), fiscal administrator, for the Office of Alumni Relations
A surprise performance by Annette Meade, director of guest relations, and James Parrish, director of foundation relations, provided the second highlight. Annette belted out “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and led a “Jingle Bells” singalong, both accompanied by James on guitar.
Thanks to the party planners and the Spirit Awards Committee for a making the night so memorable!
