Dr. Caroline Cobb (PI)

Dr. Cobb is an Associate Professor of Psychology and director of the Health Psychology Doctoral Program at Virginia Commonwealth University. She also currently co-directs the Virginia Youth Tobacco Projects Research Coalition.

Dr. Cobb’s research interests include assessing patterns of tobacco use initiation, maintenance, and cessation and the refining of clinical trial and in-laboratory methods for tobacco product evaluation. Her areas of focus include menthol cigarette smoking and the use of other flavored tobacco products such as hookah, little cigars/cigarillos, and electronic nicotine delivery systems and their effects on individual and population health. Dr. Cobb prioritizes engagement with state and community partners in her work, and some of her frequent collaborators include Henrico Too Smart 2 Start Coalition for youth substance use prevention, Henrico County Public Schools, the Virginia Department of Health.

She receives state and federal funding to support tobacco-focused research and works with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team of scientists and trainees. She is committed to addressing tobacco-related health inequities and supporting the next generation of health psychologists.

In her spare time, she is an avid Crossfitter and patron of bakeries in her Church Hill neighborhood.
