VCU to host annual Real Estate Trends conference
Industry leaders will once again address trends affecting the real estate and business economies at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business 29th annual Real Estate Trends Conference next month.
The conference, organized by the Kornblau Real Estate Program in the VCU School of Business, will be held Thursday, Oct. 10, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, 403 N. Third St. Doors open, with registration and a continental breakfast, at 7:30 a.m. The program starts at 9 a.m.
The conference attracts more than 1,200 industry leaders from academic and professional ranks and from all sectors of real estate.
This year’s speakers come from Heitman, a global real estate investment management firm, and NewCities, a global nonprofit committed to shaping a better urban future.
Mary Ludgin, senior managing director and head of global research at Heitman, has authored numerous articles and research studies relating to real estate markets, portfolio management and strategy. Prior to joining Heitman, she was an urban planner for the city of Chicago and she worked in retail site location. Ludgin is also a former president of the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries. She was named a fellow of the Homer Hoyt Institute in 2000, is a docent for the Chicago Architecture Foundation and is a member of the board of the Metropolitan Planning Council of Chicago.
Greg Lindsay, director of applied research at NewCities, is an award-winning journalist of more than 20 years who combines qualitative reporting with quantitative data to understand what makes cities successful and equitable. Lindsay will address how cities-as-a-service are changing how we live, work, move and more — and the new real estate products, services and business models this creates.
