Week 1 Log
Tuesday was spent mostly in testing and reorientation
- testing R: drive mapping from a personal machine
- checking group account passwords (use by my volunteer team and new journal)
- checking passwords/access on new Founders Archive email, bbarchive@bbarchive
- troubleshooting with VCU tech support my access to this blog
- confirming continued access to birdlab blog
- writing emails to new journal editors to correct mistaken impression that I was charged with working on the archive in fall
- querying CHS support and department support about Adobe Cloud licenses (first query was Jan 11)
- correspondence with volunteers and consulting founding editor
- testing of new blackbird-archive.vcu.edu folder migrated from blackbird.vcu.edu and discovery that I had no rights to the folder
- follow-up correspondence with library team on gaining access.
Thursday, following the publication of the new journal, consisted of
- confirmation that I had full write rights to blackbird-archive.vcu.edu
- test of forwarding of URLs (around which so much turned.)
- troubleshooting of link problems, out of issue folders with v- leading text that are not being filtered.
- emails characterizing discovery of above.
- putting v21n3, if a day late, “into archive” by adding “Afterword” and changing other visual elements of the page; this remains in progress.
- troubleshooting of path issue related to out of issue archive-map, author index, serial maps, and an out of issue audio archive
- email to library team characterizing/speculating on those problems
- follow up conversations with library at evening event to further understanding/clarity of what to work out; where they might contribute help with a filter and where I still have to make manual path changes to the archive.
- reviewing/revising founders archive page I created in summer; not yet deployed.
- sharing progress with consulting founding editor.
Friday
- updated blog for week
- changed path for local root level mapping and v21n1, n2, and Site Root to blackbird-archive and relabeled. (v21n3 already completed earlier in week.)
- Changed link to search/archive page from URL to relative link in v21 n1 and 2, and tested. Will circle back to v21n3 next Tuesday at latest and then start working these changes down the entire stack.
