Note 7\/17\/2025: The RamCam upgrade has been postponed to next week, hopefully.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After years of dedicated service, our two remaining RamCams<\/a> are finally getting a prodigious upgrade. We’re talking 4K resolution, 60 frames per second, a 1\/2.5″ CMOS sensor, Lightfinder, Wide Dynamic Ranges and all sorts of things we don’t fully understand! These new cameras will deliver great image quality and are expected to last for another 15 years– that we do understand. While the high-quality images are a bonus, the primary purpose of the RamCams remains the same: to keep us and our student’s loved ones, all connected with VCU campus life. The upgrade is scheduled for tomorrow morning, July 16, 2025, and will likely result in some downtime for the RamCam feeds. We’ve created a cute little outage page you can look forward to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wiki.vcu.edu domain, previously linked to our Confluence Server, is now redirecting to our Confluence Cloud instance. This redirect is designed to catch most existing bookmarks. You can also now use a convenient shortcode to link directly to Spaces; for example, http:\/\/wiki.vcu.edu\/spaces\/TUG\/<\/code> will correctly redirect to https:\/\/wiki-vcu.atlassian.net\/wiki\/spaces\/TUG\/overview<\/code>. The redirect on wiki.vcu.edu also forces a login, which will help prevent a common error we’ve addressed in previous posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, we’re in the process of procuring the Mosaic plugin suite to assist in content creation and making things generally prettier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First off, a huge thank you to our awesome and patient community. Thanks to all of you, we’ve taken care of the last few issues and are now confident we can finally shut down the wiki.vcu.edu server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the server itself will go offline, we’re implementing some clever redirects for the wiki.vcu.edu domain<\/strong>. Our goal is to make sure your old bookmarks still get you right to your Wiki Space in the Cloud, and hopefully give you a slightly shorter, friendlier URL to use too. These redirects will go live on Monday, July 14th<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Note on the “Mosaic” Plugin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We also want to update you on something else. We recently discovered that an enabled plugin, “Mosaic,”<\/strong> became inactive because its trial period ended. We weren’t fully aware of how many of you were actively using and benefiting from it, and we’ve definitely heard your requests about looking into procurement options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While previous discussions with the vendor weren’t very promising regarding its feasibility, we are still actively investigating the possibility of acquiring it. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this unexpected change has caused.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next step is two-fold– we’ll convert the wiki.vcu.edu space to a read-only environment to encourage everybody to pay more attention to their new Cloud Space… and then we’ll sunset the service entirely by issuing a redirect to our new Confluence Cloud environment.

Friday, March 14th, 10am EST.<\/strong> https:\/\/wiki.vcu.edu enters into a read only mode. You’ll be able to login and navigate around, but editing the wiki will be challenging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m successfully logging into Cloud Confluence, but my previous permissions to Spaces do not appear to be active. <\/strong>
The most frequent issue encountered involves login difficulties, often stemming from pre-existing ‘local’ Atlassian accounts (e.g., via Trello). Resolving this typically requires logging in using the ‘Microsoft’ button, which effectively merges the local account with your Microsoft Entra ID credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do I locate my Space over in the Confluence Cloud?<\/strong>
When you visit your space on https:\/\/wiki.vcu.edu, there should be a banner at the very top of the page that will help you find your Space over in Confluence Cloud. The typical migration path looks like this: https:\/\/wiki.vcu.edu\/display\/SPACE\/Home \u2013> https:\/\/wiki-vcu.atlassian.net\/wiki\/spaces\/SPACE\/.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My https:\/\/wiki.vcu.edu space did not migrate! <\/strong>
No worries– put in a ticket at https:\/\/go.vcu.edu\/ramscentral and we’ll get it pushed over. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will the transition to Entra ID prevent hospital employees without university affiliations from accessing the wiki?<\/strong>
Hospital employees without <\/em>university affiliations will not have access and will require special accommodations to access Confluence Cloud. Existing hospital employee Wiki users will retain their access. To explore those special accommodations, please put in a ticket at https:\/\/go.vcu.edu\/ramscentral<\/p>\n\n\n\n
