VCU Students Earn Twenty Awards at National Student Media Conference
VCU student work through the Student Media Center recently earned 20 awards at the National College Media Association and Associated Press Convention in Atlanta. The conference is the largest gathering of collegiate journalists and media students in the nation. Four students from VCU — Jordan Kalafut, Jesse Anderson, Naomi Lilac Gordon and Andrew Kerley — represented the SMC at the four-day event.
Work from six student media organizations — The Commonwealth Times, The Compass, Emanata, Pwatem, Ink and Amendment — earned national recognition from the Associated Collegiate Press and the College Media Association at their awards ceremonies and national convention Oct. 30 – Nov. 2 in Atlanta. This is Amendment’s second Magazine Pacemaker award in a row; only nine magazines earned Pacemakers this year in the country.
“I got to look at the work of schools from across the nation, and I can safely say that the work that we do at Ink is great, and stands out in the pack,” said Naomi Lilac Gordon, Ink Magazine Newsletter Editor, one of the students representing VCU and the SMC at the conference.
Help celebrate our incredible student writers, designers, editors, photographers, illustrators, comic artists and reporters!
