The Society of Behavioral Medicine held its 46th Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions on March 26th-29th in San Francisco, CA.

Faculty, staff, and alumni from the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences represented our school at this year’s SBM meeting. Read on for some descriptions of their work and see more photos below!

Sunny Jung Kim, Ph.D., assistant professor in SBS presented a poster based on her research on vaccine uptake and refusal across different diseases.

Karly Casanave-Phillips, Ph.D., a current postdoctoral fellow, presented a poster about a physical activity intervention adapted for Adolescent and Young Adults (AYAs).

SBS alumna Kofoworola Williams, Ph.D. presented a poster based on her work on college-age Black men’s mental health.

Autumn Lanoye, Ph.D., assistant professor in SBS, presented at a symposium titled “Reshaping Behavioral Interventions for Emerging Young Adults: Addressing Contextual Needs and Adaptations.” Her talk focused on the adaptation of behavioral interventions for weight loss to include mental health components, and included outcomes from the “Redefining BMI” project, a trial testing an integrated lifestyle intervention for emerging adults.

ChloĆ© Jones, Ph.D., another current SBS postdoctoral fellow, presented at the same symposium, discussing the “Black Women are FIRE” trial – a 24-week randomized control trial designed to test a behavioral resistance exercise intervention for young Black women.

SBS alumna Kristal Lyn Brown, Ph.D. also participated in the symposium as a discussant.
