The scientific interest of Dr. Mir is mainly focused on functionalization of nanomaterials by novel synthetic compounds for sensing, photovoltaic, and catalytic applications. She conducts research on functionalization of nanocomposite materials for introducing new fluorescence probes to detect heavy metal ions in drinking water. She is also conducting another project which focuses on improving superhydrophobic properties of soot-coated surfaces by manipulating surface chemistry of the materials.
