The National Endowment for the Arts, Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, and The Center for Arts in Medicine is sponsoring a Creative Forces Summit

Attendees will gain a better understanding of benefits, impacts, and most effective systems of delivery for the arts to support trauma-exposed rural and remote veteran populations in the community and clinical settings. Topics of focus will include ways the arts can promote health, wellness, and stronger social connection, through programs that are responsive to often under-recognized cultural diversity that exists in military and veteran populations.

Objective 1: Build a better understanding of the impact of isolation on the veteran population at large, as well as the unique needs of rural and remote veteran populations that have been exposed to trauma for social connection and multicultural sensitivity to the rich diversity of voices and cultural backgrounds who make up the military community.

Objective 2: Organize an interdisciplinary response to these needs by leveraging the arts, including through tele-arts engagement, to help process trauma, build resilience, and encourage social connection.

Objective 3: Advance information and knowledge sharing across military, veteran, arts and health, and community arts networks to build collaboration and support reintegration, social connection, and conversation around diverse cultures in the military and our communities more broadly.
